TAFETA, an art dealership that specialises in 20th century and contemporary african arts, presents a photo exhibition titled Before, Before & Now, Now, which focuses on Lagos/Nigeria. The exhibition brings together some of the most important Nigerian photographers of the 20th and 21st century.
The exhibition, now at MIRA FORUM in Portugal, was firstly shown in 2014 at Bonhams in London. It includes works by the following photographers: Adeola Olagunju, Adolphus Opara, Aisha Augie-Kuta, Akintunde Akinleye, Amaize Ojeikere, Andrew Esiebo, Emeka Okereke, George Osodi, J.D. Okhai Ojeikere, Jide Alakija, Uche Okpha Iroha, Alfred Carew, Fosa Studios, J.A. Green, J.B. Abibmbola, N.W.Holm, Obafemi Luther, Olojo Studios and Sanya Freeman.
The exhibition promises to “invite the viewer to consider the “before” and the “now” – the similarities and differences in technology, in events, individuals and landscapes, and in the particular ways of seeing as each photographer constructs an imagery about their land.”
Before, Before & Now, Now opened on the 19th of March, and runs till the 27th of April 2016. Opening times are on Tuesdays to Saturdays, from 3pm to 7pm.
