Lights Camera Africa!!! is back.
The 2016 festival will combine a fiesta of film viewing, panel discussions, workshops and seminars in the celebration of African cinema, under the theme ‘Music Makes the People’. This will take place from 30th September – 2nd October 2016, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Initiated in 2011 by The Life house, the festival was created to arouse discourse on issues that are rooted in the African experience. Lights Camera Africa!!! shares a diverse range of African and independent cinema including documentary, feature films, and animation, supporting the work of emerging African film makers.
Last year, Lights Camera Africa anticipated the ‘Future Forward’ by assembling bold and vibrant films that portray the spirit and characteristic force that feeds our needs to go forth with certainty to succeed. Some of the movies screened were ‘Finding Fela’, ‘Gone Too Far’, Sex, Okra and Salted Butter, and the Nigerian classic, ‘Saworoide’ from the award-winning veteran Nigerian film maker, Tunde Kelani.
With this year’s theme, we look forward to an equally rewarding experience where music will make our hearts dance to the rhythm of African cinema experience. Look out for the line-up on TSA. Registration to attend the festival is now open on www.lightscameraafrica.com
